Krishna has already said that there are three types of characters a person can have namely good bad and worse. Now he explains a little more about the actions of persons belonging to those characters.

While doing prayers, persons with bad and worse character do rituals that are believed to do harm to others. They may bruise themselves to obtain certain results. Their prayers are offered to gods of black magic. The fault lies not in worshipping such gods but in the mental state with which they do such prayers. They have absolutely no control over their minds that time and they also have all the prohibited emotions then. That’s why it becomes a bad way to worship God. If they were doing it well, then the prayer would have gone to God Krishna no matter whoever it was addressed.

The food habits also differ among these people. Persons with good character prefer to eat healthy food which are free from heavy masalas while the persons with bad character prefer food they are sour, salty, bitter and enriched with all types of masalas. The persons with bad character prefer food they are even unsafe to eat like food items which are too old to eat.

Now while coming to prayers, the first class of people prefer do prayers as Krishna has already explained, ie, without any wish for results. The second class does it with an obvious intention in result and with a conceited mind. The worships of the third class are more like black magics for satisfying evil motives.

The good people do prayers with a clean heart. Krishna says that if they heart is good, whatever the person does can be counted as prayer. If he gives some physical services to people worthy of worship like the parents, persons with good knowledge etc, then it can be called a prayer to God done by the good person with his body. When he speaks sweet and kind words to others, that can also be called chantings for God. Even when he is sitting silent with a clean mind, the thoughts that pass through his mind can also be called prayers to God.

We can see differences among different kinds of people even in doing charity. The good people do charity because they think it’s their duty to do so. And they do it only for the deserving people. But the bad people do charity with an intention to get something back. They maybe doing it with a half mind also. The worse people give away only the wrong things that too wrong people. For example a weapon to a terrorist.

In short we are all advised to do prayers to God in all forms like our actions, words and thoughts. Let everything we do be for God.
